Even if your that good, the clock is ticking if you have to do every single thing to make it happen it may not be the best use of your time if you try to create some kind of income to live on. Why not use other people's talent if your not that good at something if it just makes a better song at the end. It's like Ozzy would decide to play guitar instead of hiring Randy Rhoads. Why don't you throw them out of your band so you can say hey! I did it all by myself ! If you pay somebody to come up with a beat, riff or vocal track you are still leveraging other people's work. Yeah, nobody really creates anything ever heard. Except there is more craft and art in the recording process and the beats are tailor made for your song if you don't change them at all.Chances are you wont reinvent the wheel it's all been done.Įver came up with a song just to hear something similar elsewhere ? It's no real different than hiring a drummer to do the work. ![]() I used to hate samples and still don't use them much but my opinion on this changed over time. This will probably help me influence my decision to use them or help change my perspective one way or another. (Whether it be clean lines/verses or vocal chops for Future Bass/House). I would love to hear your opinions on whether you guys think it’s right or wrong to use vocal samples in personal projects. I do not have high quality production gear / vocal mic Many other people use samples, so it makes it feel normal and something that I shouldn’t feel bad about. I ask around and try to find vocalists and can rarely find someone to sing for me. It would enhance my track and I would like the way it sounds. ![]() Many other people out there could be using the same samples, resulting in my song not being unique putting a random persons singing in my song makes it feel less of my own work. They already sound good and have been processed by someone else, not me. I am really interested in putting bought vocal chops in my tracks but feel conflicted within myself about whether it is right to do so: I have been seeing a lot of ads about splice sound sample packs and they have royalty free vocal samples/loops. Every time I attempt vocals I get disappointed. I make a variety of electronic music and get frustrated at my lack of vocalists to use and vocal processing is the hardest part of producing to me (I am not a professional and do this recreationally). But it is tempting and has been on my mind a lot lately. I personally have not used them (other than kicks and snares) just because I like writing my own stuff with virtual instruments and midi. I am sure many people in this community use sample packs and loops to compose songs.
